5 Reasons I Don't Look Like a Typical Health Coach

First of all, let's start out by defining why you would hire a health coach. Probably for coaching you to health right? To guide you along the way to health. Just as you would go to a doctor, a sports coach, a nutritionist. You're not going to them for what they look like, but rather for their coaching. It may cross your mind what they look like, but you may not know the whole story either. Nor are you there for that reason. You are there to get good coaching. I don’t look like a typical 6-pack, size 4 health coach. Nor do I want to look like that. It’s not my jam AND I don’t want to put that much struggle into how I look. People don’t hire me for how I look. They hire me because I’m a real-life coach and I put my real life out there for all to see and learn from. Here is why I don’t want to look like a typical health coach:
#1. I'm not here for a beauty show. I'm not here for a beauty pageant. I'm not here to upstage someone else or show off my six pack abs (which I don't have). I'm here to coach. I'm here to guide people to natural health and healing. I'm here to share my experiences and move people towards their goals and health. I am not here to be judged on my looks.
#2. You don't know the whole story. You don't know that I've been battling autoimmune diseases for years. Part of that battle has included weight gain that was not justified by my actions. Part of that battle included me not being able to lose weight even though everything I was doing was textbook. That story is important to my coaching ability. You cannot tell the whole story from looking at the cover of my book.
#3. My experiences and my knowledge are what is important in my coaching business. As it is in any coaching business. What I have to say and how I guide you is what you are hiring me for. People don’t hire me for what my journey looks like or what I look like. Your journey might be completely different then my journey. I am here to guide you and to help you succeed. Take advantage of my experience and knowledge.
#4. Who’s right is it to tell me what my body should and shouldn't look like at any point in my life? That right belongs to me. I am happy with where my body is at. It is healing itself. It is supporting me and doing amazing things every day. Body shaming is not acceptable. Body shaming and comparison has no place in health coaching or anywhere in this world. It is only meant to tear someone down and not build them up. My body is mine and I am the only one that gets to decide what it looks like and how I feel about it looks.
#5. My goal is not to look like a fitness model or bodybuilder. In the end, all that matters to me is the experiences I have had in healing naturally and using those experiences to help others. I don't care what I look like as long as I am healing naturally. I don't care what others think as long as I'm helping people live and heal naturally. Everybody has a journey to share. That journey is to help others with the experience and knowledge gained.
